Baby laundry detergent

Usually people feel that it is not really important to select a separate baby laundry detergent and wash the baby clothes in the same detergent as is done for all other laundry at home. This may not affect the baby in most cases, but yet, why take a risk? What is the risk involved?

The fact is that the skin of babies is extremely sensitive in comparison to that of adults. Thus, harsh detergents can cause rashes that could lead to skin infections. Apart from that if any member of the family is suffering from an infection or illness that can be carried through viruses or bacteria, the baby is prone to catch it through even the clothing. This is because babies do not have the immunity system that adults develop.

In fact, pediatricians suggest that all baby clothing and napkins and towels should be washed separately. Ideally, the baby-clothes should be washed by only using a baby laundry detergent. This is because these detergents are specifically washed keeping baby safety in mind.

The detergents created for baby clothes blend softeners with certain harsh ions to remove the most stubborn of stains. Softeners are essential in the detergents so that the baby is comfortable in the clothes after they have been laundered time and again.

There are some baby laundry detergents that have added fragrances or color. However, such attractive detergents should be avoided as they could cause an allergic reaction when the baby wears the clothes laundered in such detergents.
